DESIGN A HOME OFFICE WITH VIDEO CALLING IN MIND
If you’re working from home chances are you’ll be spending some time on video calls. Have you thought about how your work space looks to others? Here are some ideas for a professional video meeting setting:
Design a space that looks professional, clean, and polished. Tastefully arranged plants, books, and decorative objects on shelving within the view of others is a great way to present yourself.
Let in the light! In video meetings you want your peers to be able to see you. Switch on a lamp or open the curtains. Don’t keep yourself in the dark.
Keep it simple. That’s absolutely fine. You don’t have to spring for shelving to have a professional background. A few well-placed pieces of art will work.
Think neutral. If you have a crazy-busy wall with a lot of personal art, perhaps move yourself to a more neutral area. Bright colors and tons of memorabilia can distract from the meeting at hand.
Okay, this tip isn’t about your background design but it’s equally important. Make sure your audio, video, and ancillary meeting service works properly beforehand. Put your best foot forward. You’ll be sure to impress with your home office set-up.
