CHANGE IT UP: A 5 TIP GUIDE TO TRANSITION YOUR INTERIOR DESIGN STYLE

astes change. You were modern now you’re leaning toward boho. Or maybe you loved contemporary but you want your space to be modern farmhouse. Whatever your interior design style currently the good news is, you aren’t stuck with it. In fact, you can easily incorporate or change it up without spending oodles of cash.

Here are 5 tips to transitioning your interior design style:

Tip #1: Planning Makes Perfect

Think about your new design goals. What elements make up this design style ? Make a list of what you’d need to add or change. Will you require paint, furniture, accessories, or all of those things to pull off the new look?

Tip #2: Embrace Emptiness

Clear your space of everything except the items you’ll be keeping such as your sofa or bed. Any accessories you won’t be using go, too. Think clean slate.

Tip #3: Leftover Lotto

Now that the room is clear of what you won’t be using, take a good, hard look at what’s left. Will it work with your new space? If need be, can you transform it so it will? For instance, will your current throw blanket that you love so much adapt to the new style, will your throw pillows need different covers? How can you make your current pieces fit?

Tip #4: Dare to DIY

Before you purchase anything why not DIY what you can? Paint a dresser, stain wood, that kind of thing. There are tons of DIY resources available, so use them! It’s not only economical, it’s fun.

Tip 5: Permission to Shop

Now it’s time to shop! We suggest buying one or two items at a time. A lamp here, artwork there. See how it’s all melding together. In no time, you’ll have your space all decked out in a new interior design style.
