FALL 2017 DESIGN TRENDS INSPIRED BY THE RUNWAY
If you wait by the door to get the September issues, you know that fall is the most important season for fashion. It’s the time when everything begins to get just a little bit more serious again: we make more of a concerted effort in pulling together new looks, and we take chances and try out new things.
Interior designers are no less inspired by the new seasons and by fashion. So this fall, we scoured the best New York Fashion Week shows to bring you all the freshest design trends inspired directly from the runways.
Red
Autumn is usually characterized by deeper, darker tones, but this year, it’s all brightness and cheer. Red is the official color of Fall 2017! The head to toe monotone outfits made quite an impact on the catwalk, but for your rooms, we recommend trying it as accent wall or in a single piece of furniture, like a desk or a pillow.
Fringe
Fringe is one of those design elements that never really goes out of style, but this season it’s everywhere! There are an abundance of textiles you can select from. But if you’re ready to take fringe to the next level, try it in a more unexpected material like a lamp shade or wall art.
Patchwork
Patchwork is cropping up everywhere we turn, but it’s not your grandma’s handiwork. The current iterations are combined that homemade construction look with bold colors and prints to make it just a little more sophisticated. When it comes to home decor, the patchwork motif is hardly limited to throw blankets and bedspreads – we’re loving it in large large upholstered items and even coffee tables.
Glitter
No need to wait until the holidays are here to start bringing in the shine. This season, it’s all about that glittery look that feels so art deco. It looks great on shoes and even better in all kinds of home accents. Just what you need to glam up those gloomy October evenings.
Deconstruction
Remember when deconstructed recipes were all the rage? Now the trend has come for fashion and that means decor too. It’s all about feeling a little undone and exposing the component parts. For your home, try using unfinished materials, revealing the underlying sticks and bricks (or beams and pipes), or even just opting for open shelving.
Taken as a whole, we’re definitely getting a crafty vibe for this fall. What do you think? Will you be embracing any of the Fall 2017 design trends?
