Where would we be without Ikea? From dorm rooms to first apartments to our current homes, we all have our favorite Ikea pieces we feel like we couldn't live without. Their designs are functional, affordable, and have great style. We’ve even shared our list of must-haves. And don’t get us started on the rabbit hole we go down whenever their catalogs are released.
But alas, Ikea is not without its limitations. The furniture is not always of the highest quality, and some pieces can feel a little generic.
If you really love the Ikea look but need something just a step above, we have the solutions for you. Here's our list of easy ways to upgrade your Ikea faves.
1. Media Unit
With it’s mix of open and closed shelving and perfectly sized space for your television, Ikea's Liatorp media unit does it all, making it an ideal storage solution. Good thing Pottery Barn's Logan Media Unit is just as strong of a multitasker!
One of the most common requests we get from clients is to add more seating into their spaces. People love Ikea’s Soderhamn sofa for its cool colors and modern look. Room & Board's Jasper Sofa with Chaise gives you the same benefits with more options for customizations and a little added comfort in your seat.
There are so many options for wall decor, and whether you choose to go high or low really depends on how you feel about the particular piece. Ikea's Skurar Wall Clock packs a lot of design punch while hardly making a dent in the budget. Anthropologie's Gatehouse Wall Clock has a slightly more delicate look, but an elevated price point to go along with it.
