Where Our Interior Designers Actually Shop: Luxe Looks for Less

Where do your interior designers shop to get luxe looks for less?

We shop at familiar, accessible stores like West Elm, CB2, Crate & Barrel, Wayfair, Article, Target, Room & Board, Etsy, and more—mixing and matching to create elevated, custom looks. We never mark up products and often pass along our trade discounts directly to clients.

Where Our Interior Designers Shop (And Why Our Clients Love It)

One of the top questions we get: Where do interior designers shop? People assume interior designers have access to secret trade-only showrooms or mysterious warehouses full of velvet settees and marble coffee tables. And while those do exist, at Affordable Interior Design by Uploft, we’re not about secrecy—we’re about style and transparency.

We shop at the same stores you do. Yep, really.

Why We Don’t Do Markups (And Never Will)

Unlike many traditional interior design firms, we don’t buy products wholesale and resell them to you at a markup. That’s just not our model. We believe great design should be affordable and accessible, not a mystery with a hefty price tag.

Instead, we create your design plan, give you a clickable shopping list, and let you buy the pieces directly or use our shopping service. You see the exact prices. You keep the receipts. And you can hit “purchase” when you’re ready—no pressure, no hidden costs.

So… Where Do We Shop?

We mix and match to get you that designer look, whether you’re outfitting a Brooklyn brownstone, a DC apartment, or a little Craftsman in California. Our secret sauce is knowing how to combine pieces from different retailers to make your space look elevated, not copy-paste. Here are some of our favorite stores:

  • West Elm
  • CB2
  • Crate & Barrel
  • Wayfair
  • Article
  • Target
  • Room & Board
  • Etsy
  • Lulu & Georgia
  • Urban Outfitters (seriously—some hidden gems!)

How We Make It Look Custom

Anyone can shop at West Elm. The trick is knowing which nightstand won’t chip after six months, which couch legs always squeak, and how to pair a $300 rug with a $30 lamp to make both look high-end.

That’s where our designers come in. We use our knowledge (and a few trade secrets) to help you avoid common mistakes, like ordering the wrong scale, finish, or item altogether.

Affordable interior design isn’t just about price. It’s about helping busy, design-loving people get the right look the first time.

But Don’t You Have Trade Access?

We do! And we pass those discounts along to you. If you purchase a Makeover or Overhaul plan and opt into our optional shopping service, our shopper will order the items on your behalf, using our trade accounts when available. No markups, just savings. We keep things simple and transparent.

If you want to shop yourself, great. If you want help? We’ve got you.

Final Thoughts: Affordable Interior Design Doesn’t Mean Basic

We believe you can get a high-end look without blowing your budget, or losing your mind trying. Our clients get stunning results using pieces from stores they already know (and probably have in their search history). We just help them see those items in a new light.
